Abstract

The archival document is a draft official letter from A.G. Vishnevsky, head of the Center for Human Demography and Ecology of the Institute for Economic Forecasting of the Russian Academy of Sciences (CDHE), to the Academician-Secretary of the Russian Academy of Sciences in the Department of Economics. It contains criticism of the approach to the formation of the composition of the State Commission for the first post-Soviet All-Russian population census in 2002. In particular, the author draws attention to the insufficient representation of science, and, in particular, the absence of representatives of ethnological science, as well as obvious distortions in the composition of the commission that violate the principles of a secular state and do not sufficiently take into account the interests of mass non-governmental organizations.
