Abstract

This publication is a Russian translation of A. Koulicher’s 1924 French language article La théorie des mouvements des peuples et la guerre civile en Russie // Revue internationale de sociologie. 32: 492-507. The article presents for the first time in full the theory of migration developed by the famous Russian sociologist Mikhail Ignatyevich Kulisher [Michael Kulischer] (1847-1919). The author of the article, Alexandre Koulicher [Alexander Kulischer] (1890-1942), the son of M. Kulisher, applied his father’s theory to the study of the Russian Civil War. The translation of the article is supplemented with a preface and helpful explanations. In the preface is presented the history of M. Kulisher's work on migration theory and its subsequent application in the original works of his sons, Alexander Kulischer and Eugene Kulischer, who became well-known experts in the field of migration studies.
